The Life and Works of Sir Henry Mainwaring, Vol. II, London, The Navy Records Society, 1922, 69-263.
From Anderson:
Apparently written between 1620 and 1623. It was first printed in 1644 and there were other editions in 1666[?], 1667, 1670 and about 1682. Of these later editions the first and last are known only by repute while those of 1667 and 1670 are identical except for their title-pages; there are thus only two editions to be considered. Both are small quartos of 136 pages. The 1644 edition includes an allegorical introduction (not found in the MSS.) and an index. The editions of 1667 and 1670 omit both these and add instead a postscript of uncertain origin. Many misprints were made in the first edition, and these are faithfully reproduced in the others; fortunately we now have a reliable edition from the original MSS. published in 1922 by is a work of very great value.
